For this lab, follow the UnixTutorial. The UnixCheatsheet has a nice summary of Unix commands.

If you are using a machine on campus or using the library proxy server, another great resource is the Safari Tech Books Online, which has electronic versions of many computer books. For this course, here's a few that look useful:

• Learning the bash shell
• Learning Red Hat Enterprise Linux & Fedora
• Learning GNU Emacs
• Linux in a Nutshell (Note: this book is a great reference, but not for learning linux)
• Learning Perl
