Nathan Woo
Nathan Woo is a third year undergraduate student in UC Berkeley's Department of Bioengineering. Woo, raised in rural Humboldt County, spent much of his youth adventuring through the wilderness in which he lived. During this time, he developed a deep fascination in the beauty and complexity of nature, and he subsequently found himself gravitating towards the biological sciences. Woo's main academic interest lies in the industrial applications of synthetic biology. In his research career, Woo has been involved in a number of bioinformatics projects. His current work for the United States Department of Agriculture ranges from software engineering to molecular biology research. Woo's interests also include martial arts and video games. Few gamers in the world can match Woo's prowess in the online strategy game DotA.
